I enjoy magazines and blogging because the women are always so inspiring. I love how in the magazine Romantic Homes an artist or entreprenuar is featured each time. In the same way sometimes it's great to reflect on my own life and take a little inventory so I thought I would share it to give a window into what inspires me, at least momentarily! Here are my top ten favorites:
I love...
the color blue
old farmhouses
cream & white, any shades
wrought iron
shade gardens
architectural details
clean lines, less is more
monochromatic color schemes
fireplaces
Last thing I worked on: Designing my dream potager with the books, graph paper and measurements, it was a blast!
Current Inspiration: Olivia of Laurel Hill - this is my own version of the book Anne of Ingleside! I love this book about Anne Shirley all grown up and having a family of her own. There is a quote I especially adore "some folks think babies are a luxury, at Ingleside we think they're a necessity!" (now you see how we ended up with 4!) We live at the crest of a hill and there are many laurels in our neighborhood so hence the name! Other inspiration: Cozy Comfy Cottage in the Country. I love living in the country with the "easy chair" way of life. Don't get me wrong -it isnt always easy! But it is relaxed and definately at a different pace than the city!
Most Valued Posession:
I do love my bed! It's probably the best place for me to unwind, have a latte or cup of tea, browse through magazines and journal. And of course, cuddle up with all the people I love!
Best trick when entertaining:
Attention to details, particularly the seasons. I write a seasonal menu, invite a small group for intimate conversation and break out all my favorite things to make guests feel welcome and honored.
Favorite collectible:
It has to be milk glass. Other collections have come and gone but I always love white so it stays!
Last thing I bought for my home:
Only little things lately, today I found a great big soup bowl with a lid & spoon and a darling wooden stool for my kitchen when I was out thrifting with my girls! Simple joys!
What's left on my wish list? A finished basement! Our covered front porch (in progress). Painting our house! More time for blogging, photography, gardening!
Best wishes for an inspirational day!
